The Whosoever Gospel Mission's headquarters on east Chelten Avenue in Germantown is newly rebuilt after being ravished by fire. The men's dormitory has 30 clients living there, being helped to regroup from lives ruined by drug and alcohol dependence. They are given ongoing counseling, training with computers, and one-on-one tutoring in math, reading, and language skills, with a goal of helping them to take the GED test. The Mission is in need of tutors to work one-on-one with the same client in one of these study areas for one hour per week for 10-week blocks. There is a work plan for each client, and the tutor basically goes over it with him on a weekly basis. You need not have any prior tutoring experience, because the Mission provides orientation to interested people and study plans.
