On Saturday, March 9th, join with other Summit members to help homeowners in west Philadelphia with basic repairs. Wear sturdy clothes that you wouldn’t mind getting paint on and sturdy closed-toe shoes, and instructions, tools, gloves and safety gear will be provided. No special skills needed. The morning begins at 9:00 a.m. at the Other Carpenter Offices, 4157 Girard, and ends at 1:00 p.m. You may bring a snack. Many of us heard the founder/director of The Other Carpenter, David Heaton speak at Summit last spring. TOC is a faith-based group that helps people who cannot afford professional services maintain their homes. David recently retired but The Other Carpenter continues, now under the umbrella of Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia. Habitat/TOC also advocates for affordable housing. If you would like to join, please speak to Lois Gaskins (215) 836-2142 or Hector Badeau (267) 251-6740 by February 28.
