The book of Proverbs isn't well known - it appears only a few times in the lectionary - but it's both provocative and delightful. In it we hear the female voice of Wisdom (Sophia) calling all to receive the Lord's instruction, and poetic observations and words of advice on the way of the world. It's a book that reflects its times and lifts up the virtues of order, but it's also inspired feminist reflection and has its revolutionary moments. All welcome!
