Sermon Series on Money: May 3, 10 and 17

On the first three Sundays in May Pastor Pyrch be departing from the lectionary to reflect on this sensitive and important subject, with a chance for sermon talk-back.
There is no subject – with the possible exception of sex – that causes more heartache, breaks up more marriages, brings more pleasure and shame, or is a greater source of church conflict than money. The messages we receive from our culture about wealth and poverty, possessions and power are sometimes helpful but more often harmful. Church teaching around money has also been mixed (it’s not the root of all evil!) but there is much wisdom in the Bible and Church tradition that can comfort, guide, and challenge us in these difficult times. On the first three Sundays in May Pastor Pyrch be departing from the lectionary to reflect on this sensitive and important subject, with a chance for sermon talk-back. We’ll be advertising this series in the community, trusting that we can offer a word of hope to people who may be confused and struggling.
