Renewal Campaign News

Posted by: Chelsea Badeau on Fri, Jan 25, 2013

The renewal campaign committee met on January 15th to discuss the second phase of Summit’s fund-raising plan. As you know, the tower is near completion, hopefully by end of February, and we have adequate funds to complete this and begin other critical repairs, e.g., the roof and pointing. The tremendous response and commitment to the Renewal Campaign by the congregation have brought us to this critical point. We are now beginning our Phase 2 outreach to the extended Summit family---former members of Summit, children of members, and community partners and leaders in an effort to make the other long term repairs. Involvement and suggestions from members of the congregation are an important part of this next phase. We are looking for information about former members, where they are now living, and how best to reach them. With your help we can contact them, and visit with those who are local. Summit Church is a landmark and icon in the community with 1000’s of members and visitors who have come through our doors over the last 127 years. We believe that most former members view Summit very fondly and might be interested in some kind of contribution toward fixing the roof and other needed repairs. The committee will be meeting again on Tuesday, February 12 at 7:30 PM (anyone is welcome!) for continued brainstorming. We are very grateful for any assistance, from our long term and older Summit members for their thoughts and information. We’d like to set aside some time at coffee hour on Sunday, February 10 for whomever is interested in reviewing our list of old friends and potential contacts, adding to it and helping Summit move forward on this very important work on our facilities. If you have any questions or suggestions of people to contact, please contact Mary Moorhouse, Peggy or Rob MacGregor, or Deborah Merritt.
