As we prepared to launch the Renewal (capital) Campaign, our consultant, Rev. Nancy Muth, encouraged us to prepare a Vision Statement. A Mission statement (which we already had) focuses the purpose of a congregation; a Vision statement describes the current hopes and dreams of a congregation in its new and changing context. This Vision statement should answer the question, “If this is our mission, where are we headed as a church in the next five to ten years?” The Renewal Campaign Committee developed this Vision – approved by Session - from the 2007 Mission Study, potluck conversations, and leadership retreats. In September and October, members will give Moments for Mission on different aspects of the Vision. We hope they will stir your imagination!

We envision Summit Presbyterian Church to be a community of faith that is recognized as a welcoming safe place for ALL people to discover and share their gifts for the up-building of God’s Kingdom. The realization of our vision includes the following:
Inviting friends and neighbors to worship, service, and fellowship, so they may learn of God’s love through Jesus Christ for all people;
Deepening our Christian faith and love for one another through study and prayer, care and encouragement, from young children to older adults;
Growing in stewardship by exploring how God’s gifts of talent and time, health, intellect, and money are given to us to manage on behalf of God’s loving purposes for all creation;
Serving “the least of these” through works of compassion and justice; and
Securing the major components of our building infrastructure for the next 100 years.
