Healthcare Reform – Where Do We Go Now?

Sunday, October 17, 2010 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary -- Click for Details

Curious about the new legislation?  Come hear about economic, moral and faith-based reasons for continuing to work for health care reform, featuring Dr. Walter Tsou, the Former Health Commissioner of Philadelphia.  The forum will examine the new health care bill passed by Congress and discuss the benefits of a single payer plan.

This forum is sponsored by the Deacons and the planning committee includes Louise Lisi, Rob and Peggy MacGregor and Cheryl Pyrch, along with reps from co-sponsoring organizations Health Care for All Philadelphia and Pennsylvania, Healthcare-Now!, Physicians for a National Health Program and Weaver’s Way Education Committee. It is being funded by our denomination, the Presbyterian Church (USA), which in 2008 endorsed a single payer plan “in principle” as the plan which best met the moral imperatives of the gospel, and set aside money for regional conferences.  Summit was approached because of its reputation for caring about political and economic issues.

Please come and invite friends to hear from Dr. Tsou, ask questions, and share thoughts on health care reform – a topic on which we doubtless have diverse opinion  There will be child care and light refreshments.  Free!
