Another Year with R.E.A.C.H.

"...and with that, the gym fell silent." Those were my thoughts as we shut off the lights and closed the door on another year of our REACH program for our Summer hiatus. Since early September 2013, we opened our doors and hearts to dozens of young people every other Friday night. Averaging about 34 youths a night, REACH was a place for youth to come eat, play games and enjoy each other's company. Lead by an outstanding group of volunteers: Jane Von Bergen, Maurice Smith, Hector Badeau, Jermaine and Jerome Johnson and Pastor Cheryl Pyrch, we were able to provide a safe environ-ment for young people to gather for three hours. Over the summer we will look at different ways to build on the program including ways to allow other members to share their talents with us.
