“Is Voter ID Stealing Your Vote?” is the forum Summit Church is sponsoring on Sunday, September 9, 2012, 3:00 pm to help voters address the uncertainties surrounding Pennsylvania’s new Voter ID law. Speakers include NAACP Philadel-phia’s Director of Civil Engagement, John Jordan; a representative from the City of Philadelphia Commission which is in charge of elections; a rep from the ACLU, and others.

People who don’t have a PA drivers’ license could face obstacles at the poll on Election Day and requirements to get another form of acceptable photo ID can be daunting.

Requirements have been constantly shifting. Citizens should take the safest course of action by starting now to pursue the current stipulations. For help, contact The Committee of Seventy’s voter hotline: 1-866-OUR-VOTE; a member of Summit’s Committee on Environmental and Social Justice (Allan Walters, Gayl Koster, Peggy MacGregor, Marguerite Spencer) or Pastor Cheryl.

Session took a public stance against the new law in May, joined by the Philadelphia Presbytery. Presbytery wrote to Governor Corbett, who replied that he continued to support the new law.
