Recent Programs at Summit How Did They Go?

The Spirit of Summit Community Day (October 27) was a delightful afternoon of dancing, music, conversation and crafts. Highlights included demonstrations by Fiddlekicks and Germantown Country Dancers, spirited psalm-singing with the P’Nai Or congregation, and a series of beautiful mini-concerts in the sanctuary with the sun streaming through the window. A bonus – although not planned as a fundraiser, we raised about 1000 after expenses through the silent auction and food sales! Thank you to the many people who put in hours of work, and especially to chair Mary Moorhouse whose vision led the way. Remember Those in Prison (November 16) drew dozens of people from inside and outside the congregation – the parlor was full morning and afternoon with people and energy. The film “Broken on All Sides” inspired spirited small group conversations; all enjoyed the delicious lasagnas, salads and desserts; and our panelists Ellen T. Greenlee and Tom Innes were highly knowledgeable and engaging. Folks lingered after the program to continue the conversations. Thank you to the Social Justice and Environment Committee for organizing this important event.
