Tower Update -- Oct. 2010

Posted by: Chelsea Badeau on Mon, Oct 25, 2010

The tower is safe to approach!Have a look at the progress. After moving substantially during the spring and early summer, the Westview St. doorjamb of the tower has been re-built. A 3 foot steel re-enforcement bar has also been inserted into the rebuilt section, stabilizing the new work. You can see the round coring hole where the steel was inserted; plastic tubing (used to pump in cement around the steel) is still visible, but will be removed before the work is complete. Negotiations are under way with masons for pointing and selective stone replacement, which will both be required before we can consider the tower complete.Work is expected to be finished this fall.
