Good news! The congregation has responded quickly and generously to the Session/Trustee request to “pay up and pay forward” 2010 pledges. In addition, a number of members have indicated they will be able to contribute beyond their 2010 pledge -- so we hope to restore recent cuts to salaries and benevolences, at least in part. The Trustees and Session will keep the congregation informed as the numbers come in and they are able to assess the situation. Of course, even with the extra donations, it remains important for members to fulfill 2010 pledges.

THANK YOU to all who have responded, and for the faithful and honest way in which the boards and the congregation have discussed the projected deficit and wrestled with difficult decisions. The recession and the shortfall in rental income have made this an extraordinary year, and the members of Summit have responded not only with treasure, but with time, energy, and prayer. Thank you.
Members may also help by spreading the word about our office space for rent. Enclosed you will find a flyer – please hang it anywhere you can (laundry rooms, Weaver’s Way, train stations, offices). We are also advertising on Craig’s List and in the Chestnut Hill Local but we’ve gotten most of our tenants through word of mouth. Renting all our office space will go a long way towards addressing our budget challenge.
