Annual Community BBQ A Success! by Donna Williams

2011 proved to be another successful year for the annual Summit Community BBQ! This represented the 2nd year with participation from the culinary students at Dobbins High School, who added a tremendous energy and excitement to the event. The final numbers are still being calculated, but we profited approximately $3,500 this year. Thank you to all the committee members (Don White, chairman), volunteers and friends who worked so hard to make the BBQ a reality. Many hours of preparation, planning, teaching, cooking, and organizing go into making the event run smoothly. Special thanks also to Weavers Way Co-op who not only sold pre-orders, but also hung our banner and provided an article and advertising in the Shuttle and e-blasts that helped to get the word out. Planning has already started for next year‟s BBQ – scheduled for Saturday October 27th. Please save the date and plan to be a part of the BBQ in a more substantial way. Volunteers on many levels are always needed to run the event.
